If you like sword and sorcery fantasy, you might like this trilogy by Lawrence Watt-Evans.
Arlian is a boy of 11 years when he witnesses the death of his grandfather at the "hands" of dragons. Sold into slavery, he toils for seven years in a mine before winning his freedom. Follow his exploits as he learns to use a sword, befriends sorcerers, and starts hunting down the people who let him be sold into slavery and the man who sold him.
They're a good read and I thoroughly enjoyed them.

I did like it but I've enjoyed all the stories written by him so far.

@DaddyEvil I see that Amazon has the Kindle version available. My husband just bought a Kindle reader, I am going to download this.

@LadyDuck I like my Kindle. I use the Kindle app on my phone most of the time but I have a Kindle reader, too.

You might ask if they've read it. They were published between 1999 and 2003, so it's not a new series.

@DaddyEvil I like romance books, but I love to read anything historic, especially local history in particular.

@Juliaacv Do you ever watch YT videos about the beginnings of humankind? Archaeologists have uncovered some really fascinating things lately bolstered by DNA evidence. At least fascinating to me.

I'm glad you enjoyed it. I'm not a sword and sorcery fan.

I haven't heard of either the author or the books, but then I've been out of fandom for decades... if I ever come across the book(s) and I like the cover(s) I just might pick it/them up.

I read a few of his books several years ago but I'm going through everything he's written lately. They're all really good.

Not my type of book, then again I don't read books anymore.
Sounds very good though.

Why don't you read anymore? I'd be lost without books to read.
It really is a good series.
