Happy Festivus!

I never was a big fan of Seinfeld though I have watched it on occasion. Of course I know about Festivus though. It is just a big US cultural thing. You probably know about it even if you've never watched the show. Apparently the secular holiday was created by an author in 1966, Dan O'Keefe. It is supposed to be a non-commercial holiday to combat Christmas. The whole thing didn't get widespread attention until it was featured in a 1997 Seinfeld episode where George Costanza's father was going on and on about it. Festivus (aka "the festivus for the rest of us" ) involves a feast and 3 other parts--The Airing of Grievances, Feats of Strength, and Festivus Miracles. Like I've said I really didn't watch the show but I've certainly seen the clip of George's father, Frank, starting with The Airing of Grievances. The classic line is "I got a lot of problems with you people and now you're gonna hear about it!" Oh man I wish I could do that with some of my family members. The show added a Festivus pole which was the antidote to a decorated Christmas tree. It was just a plain steel pole on a base. My ex used to run a steel fabricating plant and he had them make one for us. I didn't remember that today is Festivus because what was first on my mind is that it is my ex's birthday. I texted him a birthday message after I got to work at 7. I didn't remember it was Festivus until about 11am. Then I sent out a message on FB to my friends.
