Santa rubbish.

Today, Christmas Eve, is bin day and that pleases me. It’s a token statement that the world hasn’t stopped, and it gives me an empty bin to fill with the surfeit of Christmas rubbish. I watched as the truck trundled along our street, but I couldn’t really see the point of the four burly bin men (sorry, operatives to correctly name them) run along the street in Santa outfits manoeuvring large, blue bins. The sight must surely have confused many a toddler. And things just keep getting better - my pink hyacinths have blossomed today, just in time for Christmas.

Santa trash men? All I can think of is their outfits getting dirty. I'll bet your flowers are lovely.

Santa trash men (our pathetic moniker)? That’s original! Your pink hyacinths sound lovely!

@LooeyVille I’m quite proud of it. I have dozens coming up on the garden but they won’t bloom till early spring.

Our rubbish trucks are now all highly automatic, requiring only a driver. Bin day is Monday for us.
