The Calendar Event.

When I was a small child and living at my grandparent's place, I remember having the Union Pacific Railroad wall calendar pictures hung around the house. It was an annual thing that my grandmother would get a new calendar, and it was like an event opening it and looking at the beautiful scenic pictures topping each month's calendar. Dessert scenes, mountains, oceanic, and all manner of pictures from all over the United States. (This would have been in the mid 50s to early 60s.) This calendar was well used. First it was that year's calendar and then the pictures were carefully cut out and used as pictures around my grandparent's house.
It was quite an event.

I get a new free calendar every year from Thrivent. I remember a lot of different places giving out calendars in the 60s.

@celticeagle Yes it was. Now it's too big of an expense for most.

I've kept several old calendars precisely because I liked the pictures.

These I am speaking of were pretty large. Not the usual smaller ones we get now days. These were 23 by 121/4 inches.

@celticeagle Yes, the calendars with enough space in the box that you could actually make notes on the calendar.
