We had an ice storm yesterday

The weather was decent for Christmas. It was chilly and windy but otherwise most of the snow was melted. But starting early yesterday morning or was either raining and freezing once it touched the ground or hailing some on the way down. Either way we weren't planning on leaving the house.
I met the mailman at the back door as I began salting a bit of the driveway near the cars. We were expecting a service person for our fridge to replace a shelf that holds the veggie drawer in place. And I didn't want them to fall on all the ice either. He was pretty sure in his get though.
My husband planned on going to the store to pick up a med he needs next week and get a few things. We decided to wait until today. But unfortunately, the icy conditions were still here this morning. It's only recently starting to melt. But there's ice covering the doors and car windows.
I might go out and do some scraping if the grounds is no longer slick. One thing we'll need is more ice melt for the sidewalks but I'm guessing it'll all be sold out.
We might decide to go tomorrow instead just to be safer.
The image is my ramp and the trees covered in ice yesterday.

I hope the ice melts off quickly and you don't need anything today. Good luck with that!
We've got a high of 75F right now but getting colder starting around noon tomorrow and below freezing on Monday.

@MarshaMusselman I want some things but we don't need them. We have high winds (25 to 35 mph right now) and I'd rather not drive in that. My car still needs a jumpstart, too. I can't get that done on a weekend.

@DaddyEvil I think we could have waited too, but my husband gets antsy. The only thing still bad by the time we went was our driveway. The temps began going up a bit and was even melting the ice on the car windows.

We won't see 75 until May or June unless the weather is wonky before spring. If that happens it messes up the fruit trees in Michigan because our last frost can be as late as April.
We did need a few things. It could have waited but my husband can't handle being in the house for longer than he wants. Things began melting in the afternoon so we went to do a little shop.

Image didn't show. The thing yo hate about ice are the power outages associated with them.

I think it was too big. I'm fact I got the error while posting and was thinking none of it made it. Your comment about the image nudged my brain. I'll see if I can try again.

@MarshaMusselman edit and shrink it. It will fit if you make it small enough.

@snowy22315 I always used a photo app but haven't done it in a year. So a bit of playing with it is needed.
Got it.

@MarshaMusselman - It is too dangerous to drive when there is ice on the roads. We need to go grocery shopping, but I told my husband that we go in the afternoon, when the ice has melted and the temperature is warmer.

I agree. My husband planned on going to the store yesterday morning. He wasn't happy when I suggested we wait. Mid afternoon things began melting so we went. The roads were fine by then just our driveway was still questionable.
This morning we woke to more ice everywhere. At least we won't need anything for a week now.

It's good you didn't get it. It took a few days to melt.

That's good. It's not fun. Our at least the end result isn't fun.
You don't get snow there either, do you?

@MarshaMusselman No snow and ice for us. We wouldn't know how to deal with it.

It lasted several hours. I'm sure some people lost power but we didn't. We've not had an ice storm for a few years but it's not uncommon here in Michigan.

I'd rather not have either as the snow can become icy.

@MarshaMusselman I hope you are still safe and warm. It's scary to drive in ice. I've had to. I prefer snow or rain. Once, I spun out on the I-40 just on the other side of Flaggstaff. Traffic went to a stand still. I got lucky and landed off in a "field."
