The Dad bracelet collection

Most of my regular readers know that my father died a couple of years ago after a tragic ocean accident. He was my favorite person in the world. His loss was and still is very difficult. I have an Ethan Allan wall unit that is 3 bookshelves with cabinets below. Whatever. I've used the shelves to house my insane cookbook collection. After Dad passed I started adding framed photos of him and other items to the shelves so it has become like a "Dad shrine". I'm okay with that. I'm really not one to wear jewelry these days or the past many years. After Dad passed my sister gave me a "bracelet" that was a washer stamped with the message "HAVE FUN" and to be tied on with thread. "Have fun" was my father's order to us whenever we went out as teens. I happily tied it on and wear it everywhere. Then I saw a FB ad for a cardinal on a similar thread. They say "angels are near when cardinals appear" so I added that to my washer bracelet. A new fun coworker is a member of the Elks around the corner and keeps trying to get me to join. His daughter was selling beaded bracelets last weekend for $3. I told him to save me a blue one. The one he chose was perfect--light and blue beads which are the colors of the ocean that my dad loved and that unfortunately took him from us. I have a good friend/coworker whose wrists are covered in bracelets. That definitely isn't my style. I don't mind adding a bit more to this collection though.

Adding to those collections is your way to feel close to your Dad. That is perfectly okay. Turning the shelves into Dad's Shrine is heart touching. Take care
