Athens-Clarke County Fire Department firefighters answered an emergency call for help on the evening of Christmas Eve to put out a huge house fire that destroyed a one story building.
Firefighters went to rescue one person who was inside of the burning home through a side door when they found one person using a thermal imaging camera.
The firefighters managed to rescue the person away from the danger zone. The person that was rescued in the fire to Piedmont Athens Regional Medical before the person that was rescued by taken to Joseph M. Still Burn Center in Augusta Georgia.
The condition of the fire victim is not known at this time. Hopefully the victim of the house fire will make a speedy recovery.

I think I might be a little suspicious of the person using the thermal imaging camera. Did he get it for just such an occasion or what? Curious minds want to know. I hope the other person is alright.

I hope the victim is fine now. it is hard to get caught by a fire, the very first problem is their breathing. I reallyhope the victim is safe.

Yes, hopefully the victim will recover, but the house looks to be beyond all recovery, a ferocious fire, it looks like, from the picture.

Well, that is such a frightening situation, especially happening on Christmas Eve. It is incredible how quickly firefighters respond in moments like this. It is never easy. Using thermal imaging to locate someone inside a burning home truly saves lives. The bravery it takes to enter a structure engulfed in flames can never be overstated. I like many others glad they were able to rescue the person and get them out safely. Being transported first to a local hospital and then to a burn centre shows how serious the injuries may be. Hope the victim’s condition turns out ok. Incidents like this really highlight the importance and bravery of our emergency responders. Sending thoughts and prayers for a full and speedy recovery for the fire victim. Thanks for sharing!
