Wintertime is the time for flaky elbows and cracked knuckles. The usual skincare routine may need a little juggling. Here's a few ideas:
* It's important to exfoliate the skin. Use a oil-based exfoliant to sluff off old skin and then lubricate the fresh skin underneath. Gently wash your face and body afterward with lukewarm water afterward. Do this often.
* Avoid HOT water. It causes your skin to dry out. Hot water also removes essential oils from the skin and makes it more vulnerable to becoming flakey and cracked. As well as cooler shower limit them to 10 minutes.
* Don't forget your lips. Cracked lips can be so painful and moisturizing them several times a day keeps them supple and soft. Moisturizers work by trapping water in the skin. This keeps it hydrated. Using it immediately after a shower or bath helps to keep the hydration you've just absorbed close to your skin.
* A humidifier can maintain an indoor humidity level between 30% and 50% which is the ideal level for preventing dry skin. (Don't make it any higher for this can increase the risk of mold developing in your home. Keep the humidifier away from carpets or covered areas for this reason.
I hope that has been helpful to you.

Thank you for the info. I have to be careful about getting a bloody nose from the dryness.

Thank you for the tips! I'll take note of those. I also used lip balm for my lips. I also use moisturizing lotion but somehow I feel that it is not enough. My skin is still dry.

You might remember to put on moisturizer right after you bathe, and put it on more often during the day, Have you thought about getting a humidifier? They really help.

If you have fishies, the evaporation from their tank will also help with the humidity in your home.
