Sometimes it seems like allyou get is bad news, but today after I picked up my meds I was driving around this new devlopment they are putting in near here...and wow that whole area, while they did unfortunately remove all the trees from that area, most of them probably weren't there anyway though as it was pastureland,,they really have some stunning views of the lake. Today we had some beautiful blue skies and the lake reflected it and was a stunning blue; the kind of blue you rarely see in the East, the kind usually reserved for Western states. Gorgeous.. Then when I got home I got into my mailbox. I really haven't been down there since Christmas, but what was in my box but a present..I was really surprised because I wasn't expecting anything..and wondered who it could possibly be from..I was thinking my friend from the writer's group because she is the type to do something like that...but it was actually from my neighbors!! How nice..I don't really talk to them...in fact I always say the guy killed his wife since other than asking is she was LL..since I had her package here, she said Yes. I never see her. Anyway, the guy is a realtor and maybe she is too I should check..I sort of expected them to have inserted a card about selling my house, which I would take as a hint or something. I am glad they didn;t do that. Anyway, I will have to follow up with something for New Years. Sometimes cards are hard to find...but I will see what I can do...it was awfully nice of them to give me some sweets and Coccoa with marshmellows and also candy all wrapped up for Christmas.. Has anything or anyone uplifted your spirits recently?

How nice from them to leave a gift in your mailbox. This reminds me that it's at least three days that I do not check our mailbox. Our neighbors brought a box of cookies the day of Christmas, they are really nice.

They have lived there 2 or 3 years and never left anything before. Maybe they were in the Christmas spirit.

@LadyDuck Maybe, but if they wanted to gift me something they could have mowed my section of the strip of grass in front instead of just stopping at the property line... People are taking turns mowing that strip now though which is neighborly of them.

@snowy22315 They felt guilty for never giving a gift before.

That’s so cool! I guess when the guys came from that church Saturday with those Christmas gifts I felt pretty uplifted. That cocoa is going to come in handy!

That was nice of your neighbors. Anytime cousin #2 cooks me a meal I'm grateful for the company and the food.

I am sure you are, but really least she could do for you, after all you have done for her.

@snowy22315 I like to do for others when I can. We are using the aluminum can money to pay for our special meals.

A sweet friend called yesterday and asked to stop by for a minute. She showed up with a plastic gift bag that has a HUGE ham in it. She left in a rush the week before Christmas, to care for her mother who had fallen. She said she had purchased it for us for over Christmas, but wasn't worried as she knew we were eating with my daughter and son in law...anyway, ham anyone? This thing is huge! I will have to cut it at least in half to work it in the freezer. I will cook the other half in the next day or two. So nice of her though, meat is so pricey these days. I won't let any of it go to waste, for sure. And yes, it does lift one's spirits to be thought of by a sweet friend, I agree.
