The Annual Ball Drop

Tonight, Times Square in New York City will be filled with scads of people again, there to bring in the New Year. This celebration has been going on since 1907 and the ball they will be dropping has gotten several upgrades since then. It was originally made of iron and wood. Now it is nearly 6 tons and has 2,688 Waterford crystals. I will be watching and then at midnight they show fireworks from around the world. If I don't fall asleep beforehand. Do you usually watch the celebration?

I'm always awake at midnight but I've never watched the ball drop. If you watch it tonight, I hope you enjoy it.

It is! I think it would be cool to look out the window and see the crystal ball falling.

This year I just watched the ball drop. I kept thinking about how cold it was to be standing in Times Square!

I always think about the fact that in such a big crowd there is no way to get to a bathroom.

I usually am awake, but I tend to be watching other things. Not that I’m awake on purpose.

I have been snoozing through the evening and then am awake awhile in the early mornings lately.
