Firstly, Happy New Year to all myLotters out there. I hope 2026 is kind to you.
MyLotter Amber (@AmbiePam) asked what was our most memorable New Year’s Eve celebration.
Several decades ago, a group of us used to go out for a meal on New Year’s Eve. One year, we thought we’d go to Gloucester Park where trotting races (horses in spiders/carts) are held regularly. We couldn’t get into the dining area but they’d had a late cancellation and we could have a ‘box’ for the evening. There was a meal and drinks provided but we didn’t know much more than that and it was near the top of our price range.
Our friends put their trust in us and off we went in a coaster bus. Were we in for a surprise! The private box was right above the finishing line; food was wheeled in in bain maries; and there was a large fridge in the room which was full of drinks.
When we asked how much wine/beer was included in the price, we were told it was all at our disposal. Racebooks were supplied as were party hats and whistlers. We could place our bets just outside the door without having to go down the steps to the totalisator area.
So that was my most memorable New Year’s Eve.
The photo shows a trotter at a different venue. Seems like photos aren't loading at the minute.

We couldn't believe our luck really. We thought maybe a couple of drinks each but the fridge was full of all sorts of drinks. It really was a magical night.

No, I don't think so.
A lot of people go to the trots here. We really need to start going again. It's a fun evening.

I haven't done anything but have game night for New Years eve in many years, Al and I were not party people and certainly I am not alone either. But for me, playing dominos is great fun. You always do fun and interesting things.

Sounds like an enjoyable time, I guess mine was when 2000 came in and I was with my husband and his family and we all had a very good time,

It was a lot of fun, thanks Marie. We really need to go to the trots again one day soon.
