No doubt that social media is now an important part of our lives. Like smartphone, we consider social media too part of our lives. Some are active in one platform while others in two or more. We are definitely glued to social media in that sense.
Traditionally, people used to make goals in three categories: Career, Money or Health. Very few make goals in other areas of life. Lately I started to notice that Platforms are flooded with posts about fitness goals, big money-making plans and more training and career plans. It is all about “New Year, New Me: transformation. Some seem to be motivating while others seem to put pressure to buy their courses. Influencers are also promoting things stating we cannot be no more average Joe. At same time, I also see social media providing support and community groups which provide encouragement and inspire us better. I understand social media can amplify the resolution culture , but then not sure if we are getting by Social Media. Are we getting inspired or influenced by Social Media when it comes to New Year resolution. What is your take?

I feel social media is influencing but not in inspirational ways. Most users are just fantasying but not meaning what they seem to mean.

No, I'm an adult and think things through for myself. I come to myLot to talk and play with my friends and then leave most of it behind when I'm done.
Same with YouTube... I watch for information but I'm careful about what information I get from people there. I want to listen to professionals with real credentials explaining things to me. If they don't have credentials to back up their claims, then I don't listen to them. (Even those with credentials aren't always trustworthy.)
I haven't made resolutions in years and years so I don't care what people say...

@Laurakemunto Exactly! Depending on the topic you're interested in, you can find real experts explaining it.

Yea that's cool but unfortunately people nowadays use it wrongly to prove themselves to the world, get approval for their lives etc which is so bad

@valherma00 at least now you've moved on and learned that so much of what is in control is within us but not the outside world

It is big in some people’s lives but I don’t think it influences New Year’s resolutions.
