Getting Paid for my Christmas Dinner

Okay. Not really. But that's sometimes how my mind kind of works. I own stock in Walmart, and we will have our Christmas party, or gathering, or celebration, or whatever you want to call it, on the 10th of January. That's when the entire fam can get together, and my wife and I are hosting at our place as we usually do for this holiday. I have to get a few ingredients to make this year's dinner, which will be a Cantonese style marinated pork butt roast served with hot, white, Jasmine rice. Granted, we will have some other goodies and sides of course. I'm a little short on honey, so that goes on the list. I want to use red food coloring for the marinade since we have guests, and it needs to look like Cantonese pork, which is red. I will get everything I need at Walmart, and I guess, in a way, the way I see it, that will add to Walmart's bottom line and help to fuel my future dividends. It's win, win right? Not to mention, my Walmart position is currently up around 93%. I have not sold a single share and have no intention to. I think Walmart still has lots of upside, and so it's a stock worth continuing to hold. Interestingly enough, I also own Amazon, and it's an amazing company and an amazingly profitable stock, but it's only up 49% in my portfolio. Go figure.

I only do my grocery shopping at Walmart now; so that's a few more pennies in your pocket.

I sometimes order stuff online from them but don’t really shop there as no Walmart where I live.

@lovebuglena New York has always been funny about Walmart. It's their loss, really. lol

It is a win for sure. You grow where you reap. This year I will start investing in the NYSE.

Put your money into the S7P 500. It's ALMOST set it and forget it.

Two good companies to invest in. I'm not a fan of Walmart, but clearly they are the dominant retailer in the US, right alongside Amazon. And of course, I do love Amazon, it's probably my go-to place to shop.

@porwest I haven't stepped foot inside a Walmart since before the pandemic. And I've never ordered anything online from them either. But, with that being said, it doesn't mean they aren't the dominant retailer in the industry! Btw...glad to see you back here Jim.

A lot of people say they are not fans of Walmart, yet time and time again the numbers tell another story. They may not be fans, but they also almost can't afford not to shop there. lol

Hope your Cantonese style pork turns out good. Are you getting the meat at Walmart?

I think that kind of thing when I buy products from places I own stocks - not that there are many of those!

Of course, I won't shop those stores JUST because I own stock. The prices have to line up. But yes, it does offer an added little bonus.

A Walmart Christmas present. I hate the lines but for pricing and product offerings it is one of the best. An efficient run business model and a quality stock. You can't go wrong with that combo! Congrats for sticking with it. Hopefully, my patience will also pay off with my shares of Microsoft.

Microsoft has actually done pretty well recently. I don't think you'll have any issues getting a fair return.
