In 1900 the average life expectancy was 32 years. Now as of 2024 it is 73.33 and many people are living to 100 and beyond. The number of centenarians is rising and according to United Nations data the number is projected to be around 4 million and 78% of that will be women. They age more slowly because they are less likely to engage in such things as drinking alcohol, smoking, using recreational drugs and less apt to take risks.
Genetics play a bigger role than lifestyle. Lifestyle factors such as eating healthy and staying active are important until we reach our 70s. But as we go into our 80s genetic plays a larger roll.
Though the study of longevity is still ongoing these longevity studies have identified certain gene variants that can influence lifespan. These include body function, maintenance of the cells, lipid levels, inflammation and the immune system. Scientists also believe that there are other variants contributing to a longer lifespan that are yet to be identified.
Three other kinds of resilience factors are also present:
Cognitive resilience-- 50% of centenarians have clear symptoms of dementia with 25% being impaired and 25% being cognitively healthy. Some seem resilient to the brain damaging effects of Alzheimer's.
Economic resilience -- Employment and other pursuits are helpful.
Personal resilience -- A positive attitude, laughter and being open about their emotions are very helpful in keeping a more youthful mind set.

What about the foods those people eat? Are they contributed much with the longevity of their lives?

I think it is termed as 'average' which would be not excellent but not bad either.

You know as much as the alternative to living is not living I don't know how I am going to feel a couple of more years down the line when I get to 70.
