After a one-day reprieve of not having to explain the subject of the discussion, I’m back to normal. At least the music side today is easily explained. Here’s another musician who sang his last song last year. Bobby Hart Fear not, you do know him. “Last Train to Clarksville”? “(I’m Not Your) Steppin’ Stone”? “Theme From The Monkees”? Bobby Hart co-wrote ‘em. See, that wasn’t so hard. Tommy Boyce and Bobby Hart were primarily associated with the Monkees, having written a number of songs that the Pre-fab Four recorded; however, they had other songwriting successes. Jay and the Americans scored a hit with “Come a Little Bit Closer,” and Little Anthony and the Imperials (and, later, Linda Ronstadt) recorded “Hurt So Bad. The duo even recorded their own hits, the biggest being “I Wonder What She’s Doing Tonight.” Oh, yes, and they showed up on Bewitched, kidnapped by Serena to sing a song that “she wrote,” “I’ll Blow You a Kiss in the Wind.” In the mid-70s they teamed up with former Monkees Davy Jones and Mickey Dolenz as “Dolenz, Jones, Boyce, and Hart” (since the name Monkees belonged to Screen Gems, the producers of the TV show). Tommy Boyce, suffering from depression and a brain aneurysm, ended his life in 1994 at the age of 55. Bobby Hart broke his hip in 2024 and suffered deteriorating health until his passing in September. The duo is remembered for a number of significant song contributions to the soundtrack of the 60s. Bobby Hart Born Robert Luke Harshman, February 18, 1939, Phoenix, Arizona Died September 10, 2025, Los Angeles, California (illness) (age 86) Their hit “I Wonder What She’s Doing Tonight”:

So much of their music (either Monkees or Boyce & Hart) had that happy feeling to it. Thanks for sharing that one…wow, it’s been ages!

I remember the music very well. Sad about breaking his hip and deteriorating...the same thing that happened to my husband.

Things like that start the spiral. Or maybe accelerate it.

Indeed it was. Now Mickey Dolenz is the last one standing in all of those collaborations.

Oh yes, I remember their music and that episode of Bewitched. Good song. At least he lived a long life and hopefully it was a good one. RIP Bobby
