Because of course he is. This is a man who claims a worm ate part of his brain and who swims in sewage.
Not content enough with very recently changing the CDC's recommended childhood vaccine schedule (MAKE MENENGITIS GREAT AGAIN) today he is supposed to advise people to eat more saturated fat. He has said that the advice will be" rooted in rigorous science". Sure just like discouraging child vaccination is "rooted in gold standard science".
Most people have heard of saturated and unsaturated fats but they may not know the difference or which ones are considered to be "good" vs "bad". *puts on biology teacher hat*
I won't get into the chemical structures but saturated fats are typically from animal sources and are solid at room temperature--butter, bacon, fat in red meat, lard, cheese, beef tallow, etc. I always tell my students that if they are solid outside your body then they are thick or solid inside your blood vessels which causes plaque and blockages. Sooo saturated fats are considered to be the "bad" ones.
Unsaturated fats are liquid at room temperature and come from plants--olive oil, corn oil, peanut oil, grapeseed oil, avocado oil, walnut oil, etc. These are considered to be the "good" ones. 2 notable exceptions to the plant=good rule are coconut oil and palm kernel oils which are solid at room temperature and contain mostly saturated fats.
So RFK Jr now is going to encourage people to eat more of the "bad" fats that cause heart disease, high cholesterol, diabetes, etc. That tracks.
He himself follows the Carnivore Diet which basically is eating just meat. People who try to defend that eating style point to the Inuit (Eskimo) and French populations who eat a lot of saturated fat but have low rates of heart disease. Well I'd say if you live in Alaska or northern Canada your bodies are going to burn off calories at a much higher rate. The French also are a much more active population than Americans. Of course genetics play a factor too.
Much like Pete Hegseth is the most unqualified Secretary of Defense in US history, RFK Jr is the most unqualified Secretary of Health. He has no medical degree. He was a lawyer. Follow his advice at your own risk.
