I had given up buying broccoli, but then just before Christmas one of the supermarkets was selling veg at 15p per pack. I bought two packs as I was going to make broccoli and Stilton soup…..
Mom had bought two packs of grapes and one pack of blueberries as the offer was 3 for £5. She wanted the blueberries for the home made blueberry muffins, the grapes to eat, but knowing she wouldn’t get through two packs of grapes she gave one to me ….
The soup never got made as by the time we returned home from Christmas at Moms the broccoli had gone off.
I just went to eat the grapes, before going on holiday as they would be no good when we got back ….they have gone off too.
I mentioned it to The Mister and he remarked that bananas alway go off before he can use them too.
Let’s just face it …..broccoli, grapes and bananas should not come into my house …..

You can still buy them when you crave for them that's the best time you can't miss to make good use of them!

Or, you should remember they're there and eat them faster before they can start to spoil.
I eat bananas quickly as I don't like them once they start getting brown spots. Pretty prefers them with brown spots and will often cut them up and freeze them so she can use them in smoothies along with strawberries. (We have freezer bags of both frozen right now. ) I will also eat lots of grapes so buy them two lbs at a time. We also have blueberries in the freezer for her smoothies.
I make broccoli and Cheddar soup about once a month... If I don't think I'll get the broccoli eaten before it goes bad, I'll steam it and freeze it and later, can use it in soup.

I think you just need to remind yourself to eat it before it expired, or better not t buy it impulsively just because it is on sale.

Next time, put them in the freezer! Obviously they won't be the same as fresh but when you find a bargain like that and you can't resist, eat a few and freeze the rest. You can use frozen broccoli in soup; frozen blueberries in muffins and smoothies, jams and compotes; frozen grapes in jam and clafoutis and (still frozen) in drinks, like ice cubes, and in savoury dishes too, I like roasted cauliflower with grapes.

Now that the weather is so hot, bananas don't last. I often end up using the last couple for a banana cake. Grapes would never get the chance to go off in my house.
