Question of the Day: Is There Any Accuracy to Horoscopes?

Although, there is no clear scientific evidence that horoscopes are accurate predictors of the future it is reported around 30% of U.S. adults consult astrology or horoscopes at least once a year.
I have viewed daily horoscope predictions from time to time. I don't base my activities on what is said, it's more of a curiosity and entertainment for me when I read them. When it comes to my personality being attached to my astrology sign, I do believe many of the traits mentioned match my personality type, even though it really is open to one's own perception whether they are valid or not.
Whether you're a skeptic or believer horoscopes have a following among some people who seek the guidance it offers. Even if the prognostications of horoscopes are just random, there seems to be a fascination in predicting the future. Newspapers have for years published a daily horoscope a wildly popular read for some believers. And Fortune Tellers have created a business out of predicting the future.
So, what are your beliefs on horoscopes?
-Do you read your horoscope?
-Have you ever based your daily plans based on what a horoscope said?
-Do you think your zodiac sign fits your personality?

What about twins? The husband of my niece has a twin sister. They are very different, live different lives, do different things, take different decisions. Of course their horoscope is identical and this is the proof that you cannot trust the horoscope.

Valid point. Horoscope traits are a grouping of characteristics that may or may not pertain to your personality. It does not make them fact. It's up to that person whether they believe them or not.
We can thank the Greeks for coming up with those Astrology signs and the stories behind them.

@dgobucks226 - Well, I did not say that Astrology is a joke, I said that the horoscope is.
People born on the same day has similar traits, those of a specific signs all share some identical traits, but the daily horoscope is a joke. The ancient Greeks were not stupid, the modern humans turned something scientific in a silly thing.

Yes, horoscopes seem to be very general in advice, so it's hard to take them very seriously.
Fun facts:
The idea of Horoscopes originated in ancient Babylon, where astrology was first organized into the 12 Zodiac signs we know today.
The Greeks adopted and formalized astrology into a more detailed system adding the signs their familiar names and stories.
Thanks for your input!

I think horoscopes are a bunch of generalized statements that appeal to those who want to believe them.
Even the horoscope traits are a grouping of characteristics that may or may not pertain to your personality. It does not make them fact.

@AmbiePam Thank you. My other pursuits, hobbies and interests seem to leave me with not enough hours in the day to post as much as I would like to.
I appreciate your compliment, Amber!

No, I don't believe in it, imagine people have the same destiny everyday? That's impossible, because we are created unique with unique path to take.

I used to look up my horoscope alot. Oddly my horoscope was correct for today. No I don't based my plans on them because alot of times aren't correct. I know mine (Pisces) is correct for me. My best friend is a Taurus which fits her. I think Capricorn fits my boyfriend.

Yes, although the horoscope traits are generalized, I find the personality characteristics seems to fit that person's sign too.
Imagine if those daily horoscopes could accurately predict the future every day. Wonder if people would be reading them every day to follow the advice.

I don't believe in horoscopes; but I do have some of the Pisces and Aries traits.

I don’t really believe in horoscopes in the sense that I base my life decisions on them. I don’t make choices or plans according to astrology. I do read them once in a while, mostly out of curiosity and fascination than anything else.
That said, when I read the personality traits associated with my zodiac sign, I find that many of them are surprisingly accurate and do describe my personality quite well. Of course, I think there’s still a lot of room for personal interpretation, but it’s interesting how relatable some of the traits can be.

I agree with your comments. Horoscopes seem to be very general in advice, so one can pick and choose what applies to them. Whether someone takes their daily advice seriously or not depends on that person.
