Thanks to the alert actions of neighbor who witnessed a 13 year old boy who fell into in an icy pond in Woolwich Township New Jersey on Saturday one week ago who called 911 to report the incident. ' Woolwich Township Police Officers with the help of Logan Township and other first responders worked together to at first use a rescue rope to rescue the boy but since his hands were too cold to grab the rope, Sergeant Joseph Rieger first crawled on the icy pond in an attempt to rescue the boy. When the police officer fell into the icy pond, Corporal Steve Spithaler and Patrolman Michael Scambia entered the icy pond in an attempt to rescue the boy which was successful to rescue the boy and take him to shore safely. I am sure the police officer have lectured the young boy not to go into an icy pond since he was lucky that he was rescued this time. Link is msn.com/en-us/public-s...

The young man is very lucky. Thank goodness that people responded fast. I know what it is like to fall through frozen ice. Very scary.

@Deepizzaguy My incident happened when I was in grade school. I have been ice fishing and was lucky and never had any trouble.

That is true since a former police officer mentioned that teens think that they are going to live forever.

That is true since the police thanked the neighbor for calling them for assistance.

I hadn't thought about a person's hands being too cold to grab a rope but it makes sense.

Neither did I since it seldom gets cold in south Louisiana.

That is SO dangerous. I would never go out onto the ice. I'm glad he was rescued.

The kid was lucky but what in the world was he doing on an icy pond if the first place?

I'm glad they rescued him. No doubt he got a couple of lectures, from his parents too.
