Someone needs to take the blame

@FourWalls wrote about a baseball manager/player called Davey Johnson. Reading through the post, I was struck by how many teams he had been associated with. In Karen’s comments, she says the attitude within the association was ‘what have you done for me lately’.
It reminded me of Vince’s time at a private school where competition with similar schools was fierce. The two main sports were rowing and cricket. If a team won the ‘Head of the River’ in rowing, the coach was feted and revered but if his crew lost two years in a row, then he would be pushed towards finding a new position.
With cricket, it was the groundskeeper who would come under fire if a team lost. It was all the fault of the wicket which meant it was the fault of the head groundsman. However, he wouldn’t be quite so much in danger of losing his job.
The photo is mine of part of the coast at Achmelvich, Scotland.

Neat pic, people take their sports teams seriously.

It seems like coaches always have to be afraid for their jobs. Love the pic. So rugged.

When a team doesn't win, they look for someone to blame.

The joker who built the road from Ullapool to Achmelvich needs to take some blame.

It’s funny how everyone gets blamed except the players!
Of course, in our professional sports, the players are paid millions of dollars and they won’t be blamed…so blame the manager or coach…or grounds crew.

What a pretty picture of Scotland.
As you said, someone has to take the blame but no team can constantly win,
