Trying a Healthier Breakfast Today

I’ve been feeling a bit insecure since moving to the USA because I gained some weight and my belly feels bigger. So today, I decided to watch what I eat.
For breakfast, I skipped rice and had: 2 boiled eggs, warm water, bread with peanut butter, berries, and an apple.
It felt good to start the day lighter and healthier. What do you usually eat for breakfast when you want something healthy?

That sounds like a classic breakfast combo! Even if breakfast isn’t your thing, it looks tasty. Do you ever mix it up with fruit or something lighter, or do you usually stick to the hearty stuff?

@annierose if I am hungry, I will make a couple pieces of toast just to have something or very rare a banana

@Bensen32 Yes, I get that! Sometimes a little toast or a banana is enough to start the day.

When I arrived here in the US, my husband introduced me to a different kind of breakfast, which is similar to yours, and I can say that it is good too.

Great stuff
When I visit we can have breakfast before we go to the pool.
How much fun would that be

@annierose Well, an omelette with ham, cheese, peppers, and onions is my favorite, but I don’t often cook that. So I generally get Greek yogurt, which has a lot of protein, and add things like blueberries, some nuts, maybe granola…

Thanks, Amber! I’m trying to be more mindful about protein lately. What’s your favorite way to get protein for breakfast?

@AmbiePam That sounds delicious! My husband loves to do omelettes too. Blueberries and nuts sound like a great combo. I might try that tomorrow!

I usually eat a pre-made breakfast sandwich that combines sausage, egg and cheese on a croissant for breakfast. I have to eat something or my morning meds will give me an upset stomach. It's not very "healthy" but it keeps me from feeling like I'm going to throw up a couple hours after taking my meds.
Sometimes I will cook breakfast if my daughter suggests she'd also eat if I make something. Believe me, that doesn't happen often.

I had also tried taking medicine on an empty stomach before, and the effect was not good for me. I guess it was because I am quite acidic. Sometimes, we have that kind of breakfast too when we’re too lazy to make fried rice. It’s cute that your daughter motivates you to cook sometimes.

@DaddyEvil That’s funny how that never really changes, even when they’re grown. Letting her choose sounds like the only way to make it happen. Maybe one day she’ll come around to eggs and surprise you.

My daughter is 37 and will only eat breakfast with me if she gets to choose what we eat. She rarely eats eggs which is my favorite breakfast food.

That sounds like a good balance! I’m trying to include more protein too. What’s your favorite go-to protein for breakfast?

I put on 14 pounds in 3 weeks in America.
It was fun.
Losing it wasn't.
Healthy breakfast for me would be Bacon, Fried Eggs, Sausages, Beans, Toast, Mushrooms, Hash Browns, and maybe some other things as well.
Sets you up for the rest of the day

My husband told me that when he visited me in the Philippines, I was too thin, but now I have gained some weight. I think it is because of what I eat here in America. I haven't tried beans, mushrooms, and hash browns yet for breakfast.

How long have you been in America?

@Ineeddentures I arrived in America just last year, and we are still processing my papers for residency. I cannot travel outside the country yet. I guess it might take some time before I’m allowed to travel abroad.

That sounds like a good breakfast! Starchy rice is filling but not very nutritious. I don't eat much for breakfast, so maybe a stick of string cheese and a granola bar, or some plain oatmeal with berries and almonds.

Yes, it is pretty filling. Your breakfast sounds healthy and light. I remember when I was still in the Philippines, my mom and I would just have oatmeal and some fruits for breakfast instead of rice.
