Kafaiti pastry nests

I wrote about making prawn thingys with kafaiti pastry. There was a lot of the pastry left over so I made some ‘nests’ with some of it which you can see in the photo.
We had some with a prawn on top with our wine at night and another one with a scoop of ice-cream in it and peaches around the edge. They’re fiddly to do and I doubt we’ll do any of these again in the near future but at least we now know how and what to do with it.

Prawns are good but quite expensive here.
Do you eat them often Judy?

@Ineeddentures I suppose we have them fairly often but we don't have a lot each. We might have them with pasta or rolled up in pancakes. I'm making excuses I guess as I think they're expensive here too. I just checked and one brand is 500g, uncooked, tail on for $20.

@Ineeddentures @velvet53 Vince doesn't mind doing fiddly but spending an hour on something that's eaten in 10 minutes doesn't sit well with me.

Looks quite interesting!
We have something similar that is used as Filling for ice Cream cones but I do not think I have tasted it much.
And the name is interesting as well.
One similar word "Kifayeti" in Urdu implies something that is economical and cost efficient !

Well Judy
I had never heard of them before
But that would not stop me eating them
It's a bit like a Vol au Vent,

They're something a bit different but hardly worth the effort.

You have to thraw it thoroughly and it's like a big tangled ball of threads. You have to tease them apart then pull off a small portion to use for each prawn. The prawns have been thawed and squeezed as dry as possible then wrapped in the strands.

That's a great shame. Touch wood, I don't seem to be allergic to anything except sulphur.

The nests are lovely. I would like mine with some pie filling in them or ice cream.
