When I arrived at the church

In order to accommodate everyone and have parking available, the funeral for Christian was held in Pilsen, Ks. at the Church of St. John of Nepomucene. I was a half hour early and the parking lot was already full.
I did not get a very good picture of the outside, it was cold and windy and I thought it probably looked bad to be snapping pictures. It is a beautiful facility. Very ornate and colorful inside.
Many people associated with our school were there. Also the Marion Fire Department (dad was a volunteer firefighter) and the Fire-Rescue crew (oldest brother is an EMT) and a group of ATT employees (Dad's official employer) and most of the staff of St. Mary's Catholic School of Newton, Ks. where Mom works.
A lot of respect for the family. It was good to see such caring.

It probably is. This St. John was a Bohemian in nationality. He wanted to be ordained in his own country but was denied by the church because they had too many priests. He traveled to America basically penniless, was ordained and founded many services for children.

We have lots of open space here that is lovely for spiritual reasons as well as recreational reasons.

I am glad I went and feel peaceful about what parts I did attend. One of the distant cousins is a new teacher's aid at our school and we were talking. She said that graveside services are usually for family and that some of the ATT employees, (not family) were not as respectful as they should have been.

It is very beautiful inside. When I was a college student I went to a writing conference hosted at a convent. My one friend who went was very sarcastic about the Catholic Faith, but I loved the environment and I respect that this was a very worshipful place. Some of the most beautiful houses of worship I have seen.

I fully expected a good turn out. Yes, he will rest in peace, but I also imagine he will be up to some ornery mischief, and just freedom.

I hate to take time off from my work, and it was a bit of a drive, but I am glad I went.

It certainly is, both inside and out. I felt it would be disrespectful to take photos inside, so that is why I added the link.

This church is beautiful both inside and out. Lots of stained glass and also paintings. Gold and white and blue and pink. Very soothing.
