That is Chicken, Alaska 28 miles from the Alaska/Canada border, It is a former gold rush town. The name comes from the ptarmigan, a game bird from the area. The town has a population of 12. A significant part of Chicken, including structures dating back to the early 1900s and the notable F.E. Company Dredge No. 4 (also known as the Pedro Dredge), has been recognized for its historical value. This area is part of the Chicken Historic District, listed on the National Register of Historic Places. And guess what? If you have the money, you can buy chicken.
As of September 2021, the heart of Chicken, including its downtown area, was listed for sale.

@RasmaSandra That’s what I thought - interesting. It wouldn’t be my choice, but he didn’t want to waste it (he bought it for someone who didn’t want it). My nieces and nephew love it though.
It’s a shame no one revitalizes that place.

@AmbiePam maybe if someone buys it. If I had the money I would buy it and set up the Chicken Amusement Park,

@RasmaSandra For sure, people stop to look at the big chicken and they fill up their cars while there.

Okay, that's funny. I love weird place names. The silliest one I know about is Yeehaw Junction, Florida, but Chicken is pretty good.

@RasmaSandra there's a small town in West Virginia called Big Otter. I haven't been there, but I see the exit for it when I drive on I-79.
