Ok ok , so I am only after some high powered washing up liquid …..and only because I can get it for £1 instead of £3.75 . I gave a couple of vouchers. However, I am still miffed that the shop doesn’t have it. We have tried twice now. I asked today if there was any in the back that they hadn’t unloaded yet and was just told the items were out of stock. Whilst I understand this, everything these days is done by computer , so they know exactly how many of every product has been sold. So they can easily calculate what products they need to order in. In this day and age, surely, no item should be out of stock ! I bet the day after the voucher expires the shelves will be full of the said missing item ! Would this situation annoy you?

Yes, all stores hide product in the back room because they don't want customers to get a discount on them. (It's very irritating when a customer asks the employees to check the back room for more product when it's out on the shelves. The employee usually just goes back, talks with other employees about their home life and then comes back out and tells the customer they couldn't find any more product in the back room.) In reality, stores make MORE money by letting you use coupons for their products than if you were simply paying cash for them. The companies pay the face value of the coupons plus a small "handling fee" to the store when they redeem coupons.

These vouchers are the shops own. Anyway, I am going to try a different store as soon as I can.

@Traceyjayne Coupons here are issued by the company selling the products, not the store selling their products.

Tesco? That happened to us in Tesco I went to 3 Tesco and couldn't redeem the bloody voucher. I got quite annoyed I got hold of a manager and told him I wanted notified when the product was in, and I wanted to collect it from customer service. The manager went and got me another version of the product, another scent, The lady behind the customer service desk said that couldn't be done when I asked

Yes, it would annoy me, especially if I had a coupon for it.

The vouchers expire at the weekend so I haven’t got long to use them.

Do you think they do this on purpose?

It happens here, too. I try very hard to make sure I have basics to cook some things, I keep flours, grains, cooking oil, eggs, butter and the spices I use. I shop very hard for the best prices I can find. As soon as one thing I’m looking for is finally restocked, another item becomes hard to find. I do cook all of our meals so keeping a basic pantry is high priority for me.
