Hello everyone. I hope your day is going well. It is 37 degrees F and sunny here at the Jersey Shore. Everyone is freaking out about a potential big snowstorm on Sunday. I truly hope that it misses us.
Work was fine today aside from being insanely cold. Tomorrow we finish GATTACA and the students have a quiz on it. I will be happy to be done with it. I've never had classes that had such a difficult time trying to figure out what was going on in the movie.
I have 2 hours of tutoring this afternoon. Yet again the kid's teacher ignored my emails asking what he is working on.
Like I get that he doesn't want to do it or deal with it but I'm kind of doing him a favor by getting it done. Now I have to scramble to find something to fill 2 hours today AND 2 hours tomorrow.
After the tutoring I need to make dinner and deal with the candle wax explosion in the kitchen. I couldn't be bothered to clean it up last night.
What's everyone else up to this afternoon?

Well, it's snowing here again (still) so I'm shivering in my boots... I think it's all coming down here so you won't get much.

I've seen the movie and it made me think about the role of genetic engineering in our children. I can see where CRISPR is doing amazing things for genetic "fixes" in kids now but am not sure how far I'm willing to support it in the future.
And then there are new techniques that I don't really agree with that are for eye color/hair color. When they start talking about how smart to make kids, or what direction to push future kids, I have a real problem with that.
I hope using the hair dryer for the wax explosion works really well for you. Good luck with it!

Is there a curriculum you have to follow? That teacher is beyond rude to keep ignoring your emails.
