This squirrel is okay, right?

I’m on the third floor. For the past couple hours this squirrel has been going back and forth across my Juliet balcony. I normally only see birds stop up here on my “balcony”. I’m wondering if that squirrel is not sure how to get down. It goes back and forth, chirps/barks up a storm, and then moves to jump, but doesn’t. I took the dog out for a long walk, and it’s still here. But if it got up here, I guess it can get back down.

We have them all over our yard. I love to watch them. When our dog was alive they ate with her.

That must have been so cool! I remember Annabelle befriended one, once. I was worried it was going to bite her, but they just sat side by side, like they just chilling.

Yes, squirrels are good at climbing up and down. Their hind feet can swivel 180 degrees so they're stable either direction they climb. He may be asking you for food if he's used to people giving him handouts during bad weather. DON'T let him trick you into opening your balcony door! They're fast and you'll never get it back outside if you let it in by accident!

Ok, I feel stupid for asking, but I’ve never had a squirrel visitor up here. I won’t open the door, and not just because of the squirrel. I opened it once, and it was three years before I could get it completely shut. I had three inches of snow inside one winter. Maintenance tried and tried, and I vowed never to mess with it again once someone finally fixed it!

@AmbiePam Wow! Nothing worse than a faulty sliding door! No reason to feel stupid. If you don't know, you don't know.

I'll bet it can get down. It may be used to humans and is begging for "treats".

I guess eventually he'll get himself down. I hope so. I really know nothing about squirrels.

Animals can get themselves in strange situations sometimes. And it sounds weird, but sometimes before a storm, wild animals do strange things. Somehow, they often seem to know.
