The Kids Are Becoming Good Cooks

The other night my daughter and grandson got together, as they do occasionally, to create dinner for us. This time my daughter was hungry for Italian. She loves it. She had gotten some marinara sauce in one of the food boxes she gets. She made meat balls and spaghetti to go with it. But my grandson also sauteed some mushrooms and added garlic. He also did his take on garlic bread but with cheese added. Lots of cheese. I just had six meat balls (good sized) in the marinara sauce and some cheesy garlic bread. It was delicious. I think they are becoming very good cooks. I asked Josh to not put salt on any of it as I am very sensitive to it and he likes it way too much. He was okay with getting in the habit of just adding salt to his plate which works great. The only thing missing was a nice piece of Tiramisu. Has your family gotten together recently to create a meal?

No, Pretty hasn't helped me cook anything in quite some time. I'm glad they're becoming good cooks and that Josh doesn't mind salting his meal separately.

Maybe she is just used to you doing it. Novelty has worn off.

@celticeagle She doesn't volunteer to help do anything. If I want help, I have to bug her about helping me and I get tired of doing that. I've always done most of the cooking by myself. That's what she's used to and she prefers it that way.

I'm glad you have some good cooks in the house. The last home cooked meal I had was for New Year's.

That sounds such a delicious meal. Tiramisu would have just topped it off.

Yeah, and it would cost between $10 and $12 a piece. It's rediculous.

@celticeagle I can't get over the price of a bowl of soup either. That's also ridiculous.

I am really glad that you and your family had such a lovely meal. The last time my.family.sat.down for a meal where I was present was in 1997

It's just George and me. I often find myself cooking for myself, or sometimes George.
