In what area have prices increased or decreased the most in the past year where you live?

I don't buy a lot of "stuff," so I don't follow prices that closely. The other day, I heard President Donald Trump say the cost of everything was down, but I had not noticed a downward trend in prices of the things I do buy.
The price of gas has remained stable over the past year, and may actually be a bit lower than it was a year ago, but that's all that comes to mind. Actually, I was able to buy a decent cut of steak yesterday at Safeway for only $12.50/lb Their regular price there for that cut is something like $25/lb,but they were having a "members only" sale yesterday, so I jumped on it. Some cuts of steak were above $30/lb, which seems high to me..
The cost of most produce at the grocery stores is way up, but some of my frozen meals (mostly Stouffer's) haven't changed much in price over the past year.. Clothing at L.L Bean seems to be more expensive. My favorite shorts and flannel shirts are up by maybe 20 per cent.
I thought I saw a Yamaha 335 acoustic guitar at Guitar Center for about $300 the other day, which would be an over 50 per cent increase in price, but Guitar Center's website shows in the $200 range, so I'll hold off on saying imported guitar prices are going up.
Oh! Restaurant prices are up here.
What are your your observations?

Red meats are ridiculously priced here, it's hard to find chicken that isn't jacked up, too. Sometimes, I can find chicken legs at a reasonable price. Butter is crazy high. I don't buy sodas, but I am amazed how much they are...and we won't even discuss produce. Buying fresh affordable produce is often just not possible.

Yes, we do. So many are hurting, more and more seem to be homeless, living in cars, etc. I am very thankful for what I have.

Luckily most of the Great Value products stay affordable at Walmart but my Keystone Light went to $18 and change so I bought Natural Light for $16 and change, To me that is a big difference. We'll see what the year brings.

@TheHorse There is a lot of talk about it but we seem to be finding other markets for our produce. Buyers pay the tariffs and it's passed on to consumers so I think really the tarriffs would be impacting on US consumers rather than on us. We don't hear too much about the effect on our producers.

I haven't noticed a trend when it comes to a lot of this. George and I buy the same things, and I haven't noticed much of a change. Although we did get out of walmart under 100 on more than one occassion, so priceses must've gone down.

I do not buy many things, I know computers jumped a lot, that was 6 years ago. To scared to look now, I hope this one lasts forever.
I think groceries are dumb and there is a law that they can only make so much profit, but that law is no longer beong followed. Restaurant's are extremely up, but no one needs to buy from them, groceries you need.

All food is way above what it used to be a year ago here anyway, it's awful. I haven't noticed any prices going down, only up. Rental prices have increased so much it is sickening too!

I haven't seen anything come down here except maybe a few cents on gas. But not enough to count. It's in the normal range. Meat has been climbing steadily.

I think Trump said he would halve energy costs in his first year. I belive gas rose 20 cents and electricity rose 10%

Meat.
Omg the Price of Beef has gone through the roof.
So in Tesco
Shoulder Steak, a couple of years ago was about £9kg
Now, it's been put in a fancy pack and I saw it on the shelf at £24 per kg
It's not even an expensive cut
Rib Eye, wow, Rump and Sirloin also have become a real luxury compared to even one year ago.
On holiday last year we thought we would have a.Sirloin Steak for Dinner one night,
Until we found out it was £44 per kg
That is over £20 per pound.
So our prices are very much like your prices , maybe not quite as high

@Ineeddentures I never expected what we are experiencing in the US. I admit it.

The only thing I noticed was that gas is down; and eggs are down. The price of beef is out of sight. Those double digit prices keep steaks out of most people's carts.
