My electric blanket has said goodnight for the last time !

We went to bed last night and as usual popped the electric blanket on. It only takes a few minutes to get toasty. Yep, it was lovely. Then I noticed flashing….at first I thought it was my phone ….it does do weird things sometimes. I reached across and turned it over. Still the flashing was there. Oh crikey ! It was the controls for the electric blanket. I did the usual, switch it off and on again….l Nope, it wasn’t playing ! Luckily by this time the bed was warm anyway, I was nearly asleep…..so dreamland called me. This morning I tried it again ….still the same …. The Mister tried it …..still the same. Looks like we are having a new electric blanket then ……would happen the week we are supposed to get snow ! Bbbrrrrrrr !

It’s only 5 years old so it should be okay for several more years yet. What has upset me most is that Mom and Dad bought it for us …..a good, expensive one ….when we moved into this house…..and I lost my Dad in 2023, so it’s like another part of him has gone. I know most folks will think that’s silly, but it’s the sentimental value to me.

@Traceyjayne Awww, that sucks. Maybe it can be repaired? Or is that even possible for an e-blanket?

If you want, you can have the two electric blankets we packed away in the garage. We haven't used them since we moved into this house. This house is too warm for electric blankets. Pretty keeps the heat at 69F in the living room and that makes the bedrooms 74F. I have to leave my bedroom door open if I want to be comfortable. With the door open, my bedroom stays 70F... Of course, if you came to get the electric blankets, you'd have to shovel a path from the front door to the garage door so we could find them for you. (We have a little over a foot of snow right now and it's still coming down.)

It hung on as long as it could! I’d like an electric blanket, but we just don’t have occasions very often to need them.

electric blankets are nice but they have a safety device in them that shuts it off after a few hours, that's why they blink like that. I use to have 1 myself & I would turn it on & it was nice till it went off & I would have to turn it back on again so I just said to heck with that & put some plastic under my sheet & kept warm that way cause it draws your body heat & you stay warm. Then I did something else, I started putting fuzzy blankets on my bed above the sheets & THAT'S been a life saver Where I don't use a heating blanket any more.

No, this is blinking because it’s not working properly ….
