Snowfall is winding down now.

Winter brings snow here, so of course I am used to it. This was an intense storm. We were not supposed to get what we did for snow totals--some say we got 8 inches, some 9 inches, some 10. I did the yardstick thing off the front porch, it says 9. Supposed to be very windy and drifting snow starting in about an hour. It's still snowing but should end soon. It's a balmy 10 degrees, and is supposed to be minus 8 for the low tonight. We are under a no travel warning for our county. The roads are just too bad, the snow hasn't ever stopped, and they are struggling to keep up. Here's the thing...as long as we have power, it's not so bad. I actually LIKE to stay home. There are days when I wish I could just stay home by choice but life isn't like that. So a few snow days here and there are just fine with me. I am in my fleecy sweats and wool socks and slippers....the blanket is nearby, and the power is on. I know many people don't have those things, I am feeling very fortunate to be warm today.

We probably have about a foot of snow here which has changed to freezing rain. UGH what a mess but like you I'm happy as long as we have power. My HOA will come and clean up the snow probably tomorrow and I don't have anywhere to be anyway. Hope the storm is over for you and you can enjoy your inside day. I know how much you must treasure these rare days of being home.

@MarieCoyle hope they can get it all cleared for your appointment on Tuesday. Its a mess here and our town roads are still impassable while the crews are busy clearing the highways and major roads. If i had to get out of my community it would be impossible. We're stuck until tomorrow when they're supposed to start our cleanup. Its gonna be one heck of a job for them

@Marilynda1225 Even though our road did get plowed today, you can't tell now. The winds have drifted us in. This is a huge job. So many people affected, and OH, is that wind ever cold!!

We are mostly in the blowing and drifting stage now. That makes it more difficult for any travel that’s needed,as well as keeping the road crews very busy trying to scoop drifts. Yes, it’s so nice to be home and not have to drive right now. Appointment for son on Tuesday, but supposed to not have any more snow until Wednesday. That works!!

I’m glad you are able to stay nice and cozy. I’m glad you didn’t get too much ice either since that always takes out the power. My dad just came by, and even though the news says we got ten inches, the plows did such a good job he says it looks good. Of course, I’m super careful so I told him not to come. However, he doesn’t like me telling him what to do so he came anyway.

@MarieCoyle No, sadly not, but he brought me some sinus medicine I had asked for, and that was a big deal!

I’m glad he came. I am sure you were happy to have a bit of company. Did he bring anything good to eat?

I am wearing my warmest PJ pants and a hoodie. I have animal print booties on too Normally I am all for staying home and cozy with a nice moderate snow storm, but this storm is scary.

@MarieCoyle no wind no big cold yet, but some low temps will be starting tomorrow. Normally cold weather doesn't linger here, but this week will be an extreme exception

I am glad we had no snow here, but the high humidity and the cold have caused ice on the roads this morning. We are staying home to be safe. I hope you do not need to go out, stay safe and warm.

@MarieCoyle We also have not moved from home since Friday. There is a shy sun right now, but it's not cold at least.

@LadyDuck I am dreading even getting out tomorrow, just because I have the feeling that if they get the roads in better shape by then, we may still have drifting if the winds are high. Time will tell, I guess.

We have not been out since we got home Friday afternoon. Tomorrow doesn't look promising so I am sure we will stay home then, too. I am hoping all is clear for son's appointment on Tuesday. Then Wednesday, it's supposed to snow again, but not a lot.

I agree, snow is great as long as you don't have to go anywhere, or at least nowhere further than walking/ skiing distance

I have read online of people having absolute fits that their fast food places aren't opened today (bad roads and their workers are struggling to get to work) and they are moaning about having to eat at home. Well, too bad...talk about entitled, doesn't even want to eat at home when there is a no travel order? I just don't understand some people.

I'm glad you have power. The plow guy said we have 18 inches of s**w. I'm not sure about that. Stay safe and warm.

@MarieCoyle I will have to watch the news; but chances are that Meals on Wheels will be cancelled again today.

@LindaOHio I worry about you not having at least one decent hot meal per day. I am sure you are tired of sandwiches.

Depending on what weather we listen to and exact locations, the totals here seem to vary from 9-12 inches. They claim it’s hard to get accurate measurements because it’s been so windy and the snow has drifted. We won’t be going anywhere today, there is no reason to be outside and the roads are not good.

We got about 3 inches, but that's a big snow for where I live in TN. I'm so thankful we haven't lost power because a lot of areas near here did. We got just enough freezing rain to make the trees pretty. The sun is shining today and the frozen world looks really pretty, but still bitterly cold.

The news has had a lot about Nashville, that it is in bad shape right now from the storm. That's wonderful that you didn't get as much where you are!

I have the dreaded feeling that everyone's heat bills are going to be astronomically high. I don't keep mine cranked up there, but still...it's very concerning to many.

Your temperature sounds about the same as ours. We have a level 3 which here means only go in an emergency and essential personal. Like nurses and firefighters. The wind is just strong enough to make some drifts

Yes, we are at emergency travel level as well. Pretty much everything was closed today, and will be closed tomorrow. They also warned that if anyone does need an ambulance, it may take a long time as some roads are drifting over almost as soon as they are plowed.

There’s nothing better than being home and cozy on days like that. The snow has finally stopped in CT. Our Ring doorbell just showed that the driveway was plowed and the sidewalk was being shoveled. The man shoveling was bundled up and still looked cold. Stay warm and safe!

@MarieCoyle We have to make it look like we live there, even though half the neighborhood knows where we are.

They are out there plowing my street right now, and shoveling all the walks. It was drifted back over so they came back. It’s good that yours was done, even if you’re not there it’s always best to clear the walks and driveway as that just makes your home a bit safer.

@DianneN We used to arrange to do that, too, if we had to be gone during a snowstorm. It's just best to try to be cautious, so I understand that.

We did get some icy sleety stuff but I would say 90% of our precipitation was snow. It's still here and it isn't going anywhere anytime soon, it's too cold for it to melt.
