Let’s Do the Fandango

While still living in Latvia and having no idea how my life would be uprooted, I would say that if I ever got back to my hometown, NYC, I would do the fandango down Broadway. At that time, I had no idea this even was a dance. The fandango is a lively partner dance that originated from Spain and Portugal. It is accompanied by instruments like guitars, castanets, tambourines, or hand-clapping. The dance has roots in the 18th century and is characterized by its exuberant movements, often reflecting themes of courtship. Over time, it has evolved into various forms and remains popular in folk traditions across Spain, Portugal, southern France, and Latin America

It's also a movie website where you can buy tickets here locally. You don't see that dance very often anymore. I see it in some old vintage movies. Back when movies were more about the locale.

@RasmaSandra ........I enjoy them too at times. Mostly I like noir and thrillers. In a vintage movie a romantic story is so much better than they are nowadays. Vintage movies are so much better than many of the ones made now.

I thought fandango was just a video streaming service. Didn't know it was a dance. I had to look up a few YouTubes to see it. There are a few different versions. Did you make it home to NYC? Did you dance down Broadway?

@RasmaSandra It might be a good thing. I think it would be dangerous to dance down Broadway these days.

I knew about Fandango as I visited Spain when I was still very young. A popular dance there like the Flamenco.

@Nakitakona there are many different dances per region and yes, they have folk dancing groups. Here is an example with people in traditional costumes.
