I have been lucking out with the bird feeder this year. Normally, when I put one out the squirrels manage to knock it to the ground, and I don't get to see any birds. Well, not this year. I have only seen one squirrel on the feeder, and the birds are able to eat. I saw a couple of cardinals, but that was the most exotic thing so far. There are birds and squirrels in the front too. I just threw out some seed for them. Do you have a bird feeder?

I had several bird feeders in our garden in Switzerland. I have a small one on the balcony here.

@LadyDuck The prettiest birds we have here are blue jays and purple martins, they aren't that common though. I see maybe one or two blue jays per year, and purple martins less frequently.

Glad the squirrels haven't been dining at your bird feeders and the birds have been able to enjoy their seeds. Nope, I don't have a bird feeder but I do see plenty of birds that like to sit on my deck.

I have seen many more witth this ice and snow and the feeder than I ever have. Poor things are running around looking for something to eat. I will throw out some more feed later. Not making a treacherous trip to the feeder.

I only keep 4 bird feeders out. They are squirrel proof, but they and the chipmunks manage to get seed anyway. The red tailed hawks usually thin out the squirrel population by autumn.

I have four, but even though they are squirrel proof, they and the chipmunks manage to get in. I can’t keep them up in the winter due to bears and my son can’t come every day to feed them.
