At Imbolc we honor the light returning, the milk of ewes swelling, the seeds ready to burst forth into the sunlight. We stand between seasons, with one foot in the long night, the other in the dawn, and we listen for the whisper of what seeks to be born in us.
Today, February 1st, I keep in mind that its Imbolc. On this day we look past the cold winter. I seek Light and germinating seeds, warmer, longer days.
I snipped up some plums from my back freezer and made three small loaves of quick bread with them. We haven't ground wheat for a while so I made some rough oat flour in the blender and dumped that into the batter. And cinnamon and walnuts. Have to include cinnamon!
I hope everyone's Sunday is going well. It's rainy at my house but the temps are in the mid 50's. A blue jay just zipped past, leaving his loud comments behind.

@Ineeddentures The batter is pretty basic. It's a quick bread so it uses baking powder and baking soda for rising instead of yeast. The recipe called for white flour but I like a bit more nutrition so I put that ground oat flour in. An egg and sugar and some kind of fruit juice, a little oil or butter. I had plums so I used plums for the batter. You can use whatever fruit you like. And walnuts.

We're still at 32F in my part of Missouri. I'm in the house staying warm. (pony asked me to go take a picture of the snow and my feet are still cold from standing in the laundry room with the back door open so I could take a good photo of my back yard.)
I'm definitely ready for spring to arrive.

@sallypup That's why I keep thinking about a greenhouse but then I have to heat it at night and hope the wind doesn't tear it up. I do have that nice big south window
