How did we end up with these?

Eldest daughter ‘Big One’ is having a blitz of her bedroom.
Basically it is full of three categories of items – clothes, books, and random papers.
The random paper (in drawers, in piles under the bed etc.) includes things like bits of pretty wrapping paper, birthday cards from past birthdays, notes on story ideas, testing different colours of paint, pictures from old calendars, flower catalogues, old receipts, old school exercise books… all kinds of things.
This is one of the most bemusing – a set of six fancy cards to send apologies for being unable to attend someone’s evening wedding reception.
Where on Earth did these even come from? Why would anyone need six matching cards to send apologies for not being able to attend the weddings of six friends? I have absolutely no idea. They can’t even be used for anything else because of the very specific message.
I might be able to use half the inside for shopping lists or something…

Hmm... Have you been training your daughter to be a packrat for useful items?
I used to bring home things someone else was getting rid of because I could see a way to use the item in some other way... Pretty claimed some of them for projects of her own. *shrug*

I can only think they might have come in a box of assorted things that maybe someone gave us long ago... but I can't quite think why anyone would need such things. It would have to be someone who received many invitations to weddings that they didn't want to attend!

@Fleura Or those were in a "sample pack" of invitations showing the styles they were offering.

@DaddyEvil Oh yes that would make sense. And the printers just wanted to show the style but not put in any cards that were actually useful so that they would still be able to sell the 'real' ones

@LadyDuck I think @DaddyEvil had a good suggestion - that maybe they could have been samples of the style of a design, but not any that could actually be used so the people receiving them would still need to buy.
I still don't know how we ended up with them though!

I can't imagine where they would come from and who would use them.

They look beautiful. But unfortunately, can not be used for anything else. I was just thinking of using those beautiful designs for some of my art and craft projects. I often upcycle and recycle for my projects.

6 cards for 6 friends that never got sent.
Maybe all 6 weddings were called off.
This has a John Wayne sort of ring to it
So get off your horse, and drink your milk
I've come for my boy!!

I kept so many things like that in my younger years. I eventually got rid of most of it. It was seldom that I used any of it and it felt good to get it out of my home.

A very interesting situation. Certainly use up the papers for whatever you need to jot down.
