Walking to the chemist

The photo has nothing to do with the post or with 'walking to the chemist'. I commented to someone that we have a pharmacy within walking distance. It only opened perhaps 12 months ago and the chemist came to the village to introduce himself and tell us about his plans for the future. We already felt some allegiance to a pharmacy a short distance away but after some months, we told the chemist there that we were going to get our medications from the new place. He was totally fine with that. The ‘new’ chemist will deliver drugs to people in the village and when Vince had his heart operation, he popped in one day to visit. He told us that he took great pains to choose obliging and efficient staff and certainly we’ve had very good service there. Some say his prices are too high but our medications cost the same wherever you go and we don’t need much else from him. Our doctors are not tied to any particular chemist and, if a product isn’t in stock, most chemists will get it in and keep it on the shelves in the future. I get the feeling it isn’t quite the same in some other countries. Perhaps you could put me right. The photo was taken from a churchyard in Bavaria.

Beautiful photo and weird coincidence that we were talking about Bavaria this morning during breakfast. We also have our pharmacy at walking distance and they deliver if we cannot go there. If a product is not there, usually the pharmacy can get it within 24 hours and re-order if we need.

@JudyEv - May be, things usually come in three.

It's very convenient to have this sort of service. It's one less thing to worry about. I wonder if Bavaria will turn up a third time! lol

Yvonne has a long list of medications. All free She puts a repeat prescription into the same Chemist all the time and they have all her stuff in stock all the time

None of my doctors are tied to a particular pharmacy, just one of my doctors prefers we pick one pharmacy for any medication we get from him, and stick with it. If I wanted to switch to where my other ones were he’d let me, he just wouldn’t prefer it. I only get two from him though, not the majority of my medication.

That’s a beautiful photo, and I’m glad you have a trustworthy pharmacy. My brother is always complaining about how he has to wait for an hour (or longer) AFTER the pharmacy tells him his wife’s meds are “ready for pickup.”

I wish we had a pharmacy that close. But part of living out in the country means we don’t. I have two pharmacies in town that I use. They are both about eighteen miles from the house. Too far for me to walk to. One of them is Walmart and they offer delivery but I don’t trust anyone with my prescriptions.

When we had our acreage we were only seven miles from a town but I still wouldn't want to walk it! lol

Pharmacies here vary greatly in quality. I find the best service is from small independent pharmacies or ones affiliated directly with a medical practice.

Here it depends on the area, some places offer higher prices, pharmacies here cannot buy as much as they want because supplies are limited on each pharmacies.

It's a lovely photo. It's the same here. As long as you have insurance, the medication is the same price where ever you get your meds. We never buy anything else at the pharmacy and the new-to-us pharmacy we use now delivers all our meds. (They did sync our different medications up so they could bring them all at the same time, something I kept asking the Walmart pharmacy to do but they didn't want to go to the trouble. I hated having to go pick up medications from different doctors every week.)

@judyev Very peace-inducing non-relevant picture. Your chemist arrangements sound the same as ours. Our little town is overrun by chemists and shoe shops. And Turkish barbershops.

Lovely photo. I don't know that our pharmacists will keep a product in stock for us. I know they have to order certain meds in from time to time.

USA pharmacists over highly paid but highly overworked. All Americans seem to be on medication. They don't know their patients.
