The snow globe first appeared at the 1878 Paris Universal Exposition in France. It received little attention at the time. It was not until 1900 when Edwin Perzy, Sr. went to fix a dim light bulb that it was recreated and really took off. Perzy noticed that a water-filled glass globe would full an entire room with light. He went on to fill a globe with semolina flakes (coarse flour) hoping for the same outcome. It didn't work but it did remind him of snow. He played with it until it came out the way he wanted. He went on to patent it and it caught on quickly The image is from crazylaura.com

We had some snow globes at our last house. Pretty put them out with the trash when we were getting ready to move here.

There was a snowglobe in the film we watched on Tuesday night. I like them but I don't have one.

They are an ever-popular plaything aren't they? I have one from Wales which features a couple of sheep being snowed on. Cheesy but I still love it!
