Trending for Valentine's Day 2026

It seems that 'Galentine's Day' has become a major trend among Gen Z (individuals born between 1997 and 2012) and Millennials (aged between 28 and 43). Self-gifting and special gifts to friends has moved Valentine's Day into a new and interesting realm. Couples are preferring to share experiences with many favoring things like workshops, travel, unique dining, and not physical gifts. More things they can do together. There is planning for more home celebrations rather high-pressure nights out. Mass produced items are no longer sought after. The demand is more for sustainable, ethical and local products. How much of this, do you think, is due to tariffs and shortages in given areas? Do you think people are looking for more individualized items and less glitzy ones?

Tastes in these areas change continually I guess. Sharing an experience is a great idea in my opinion.

I think many people are tired of the rampant commercialization and looking for more individualized ways to celebrate with friends and family.

Apparently there is more of a focus in general on 'experiences' and not so much on 'stuff'.

I like that idea. Stuff accumulates and you have to have room for it. The other is a memory and pics on your phones that can carry on forever.

@celticeagle And so much of the 'stuff' just needs to be thrown away afterwards as well.

I think that this is a trend that's been growing for several years.
