I’m covering a class on my prep. Unfortunately it is the ESL class I covered a couple of months ago. They are all speaking to each other in Spanish. I have absolutely no clue what they are talking about. They could be planning to murder me for all I know. The feeling is unsettling.
Oh well. It is $45.

Shirley, you know some Spanish by now... Only worry if you hear something that sounds like 'assasinato'

You know they make these Apple EarPods now that translate live conversations for you.

I was helping a Turkish lady with her English once. We got invited to a party but we were the only ones speaking English. It was a good lesson in how difficult it is for those who don't speak whatever language is being used. Like you, we felt quite unsettled and uncomfortable.

I am not sure I could handle an hour of not understanding a word they said. Don't they know ANY English? You would think they should try to communicate, but hey, I am not a teacher. I taught some food safety classes at several local colleges for a time, and Sunday school for little children, but that's the extent of my teaching, with the exception of my own children. I would be so frustrated.
