What Would You Do?

If you were in a situation where you were trying to show a transportation company (free to Medicaid recipients) the lack of real service, they are providing what would you do in this situation? If the transport assigned to pick up a person just cancels for no apparent reason, what would you do? Would you hurriedly call a service you knew was fast, that would get there and get the person to their appointment on time OR, would you call the company where you set up the ride originally and just hope that you could get through to them quickly, then set up still another ride, and hope that the person could still get to their appointment on time. ??? Which would you do?

I would probably do both..and I would file a formal complaint against the service that canceled.

I have complained several times about the service Medicaid uses here. Sometimes it helps the next time but usually nothing is different. We have to call them two full days before we need a ride or they won't accept the request. When I can't get to a doctor or specialist, I just reschedule the appointment and hope I can see well enough to drive at the next appointment.

It is sad that you feel you have to just reschedule. Since I complained they have gotten better. Two times now with no problems to or from. Hope it lasts.

@celticeagle I don't have a choice... I can't call a taxi or rideshare since they don't exist in my city. I'd have to call one in Springfield and pay the fare the 70 miles three ways for the empty vehicle coming here to get me, back to the city and then to bring me home again. I'm not rich enough to do that.

I would call them and find out where the driver is. (I've actually had to do this before), and if I don't get a satificatory answer, and know I'm on borrowed time, I'd just get a taxi or ride share and get to the appoitment. I'd worry about getting back home after the appointment.

That is about what I had to do. Later they told me I should have called them to reschedule a ride. They take too long.

@celticeagle It's why I set money aside if I need to get somewhere important.

I would call whatever could give me the fastest service as an alternative.

That's the smart thing to do. I was told I should have called them back to schedule another ride. By that time my daughter would be late for the appointment.

Each time I call to schedule a ride I request for the transport that is responsible and does the job.9 times out of 10 we get Lyft. They aren't that great and many of the things they do do not make sense.
