The novelty dance the Monkey was popular in 1963. It was popularized by two R&B records “The Monkey Time” by Major Lance and “Mickey’s Monkey” by The Miracles. For a while it became a national dance craze.

That is a funny video. I don't remember the monkey, somehow the swim is stuck in my mind from that time period.

That is not really a monkey but same family and they are one of the most intelligent species of ape family. Out of all of them. They are the least violent and most funny. here, I thought you were talking about the monkeys song from the band.
