Remember Girl Scout Cookies?

I used to see tables set up outside of stores and girl scouts were setting selling their cookies. I haven't seen this in probably about ten years now. Have you? Here's some interesting facts I found out about them: * Juliette Gordon Low founded the organization with 18 girls in 1912. * In the 1920s Girl Scouts baked cookies in their own kitchens and sold them in the school cafeterias packaged in wax paper and sealed with a sticker. These sold for 25 to 35 cents. * In 1934 the Girl Scouts of Greater Philadelphia were the first troop to sell commercially baked cookies and within two years the national organization began licensing the cooking-making process to commercial bakeries. * During World War II due to the rationing of sugar and butter the Girl Scouts sold calendars for 25 cents. * In 1985 Elizabeth Brinton sold 11,200 boxes during rush hour at a local Virginia metro station. * Brinton went on to be dubbed "Cookie Queen" and between 1978 and 1990 she sold 100,000 boxes. * In 2021 girl scout Lilly Bumpus sold 32,484 cookies. Do you ever buy these? We used to occasionally but never see them being sold anywhere. I tried to find a place where we could get some on their website a few years ago and could not. I guess if they wanted to sell them, they would make it easier. I guess the selling season began today and goes on until April. Online it says you can go to a 'finder app' that can show you places in your area. I went there and they don't seem to have one set up in our area.

Lily Bumpus really did well in 2021. I don't think our Girl Scouts do stuff like that here

Walmart has a table set up outside that the Girl Scouts are using today. (I saw them when I put gas in the car for our trip to the neurologist on Wednesday but didn't stop to buy any.) You can still buy the cookies online and they ship them to you.

Maybe I will call and see if they have one at the Walmart here. I don't find any place online where they will ship it here to Idaho.

@celticeagle Oh, I'm sorry. They say they ship US-wide. I hope your local Walmart has a table set up for them.

They still sell them outside of stores here. I buy once in awhile but I am not big on sweets anymore. I do eat sweets but not a bunch. That is interesting information you shared about the Girl Scouts. Thank you.

Maybe they aren't as popular a group as they used to be.

On rare occasions I have bought Girl Scouts cookies from a local supermarket a few years ago.

Sure do remember and always like the idea of the Girl Scouts selling cookies. However, I was in a Latvian Girl Scout group, and there was no cookie selling there.
