Have you been watching the Olympics?

Some people are really into the Olympics. Some people could care less. You can count me in the latter group. I haven't watched a minute of any of it. The last Olympics that I actually watched any of had to be one of the ones soon after the whole Nancy Kerrigan/Tonya Harding incident. I used to figure skate so I had an interest in that but I haven't watched in decades. The woman whose classroom I share has been projecting it via Peacock during her classes. She was out today but when I went in there to drop some stuff off a student was at her computer. I looked at him with a puzzled expression because students definitely aren't allowed on teacher computers. The sub said to him "you probably shouldn't be sitting there". The kid said that he was just putting on the Olympics and then he would move somewhere else. The sub was skeptical but I confirmed that she has been showing it to them. I just found it interesting that the teens wanted to see it so much that one of them took it upon himself to put it on. Are you watching the Olympic games?

I like that she was trying to foster an interest. I think if more people actually sat down and watched some of these sports, they’d get into it. But you just have to get me and everyone else to sit for awhile. There are a couple of nights of the figure skating on my DVR, but I don’t know if I’ll get to them. I kind of miss getting into the Olympics, summer or winter. Winter just doesn’t get the same love (or ratings). Most importantly, tell me more about your time in figure skating. I did not have that!

Oh it was back in middle and high school. I wasn't particularly good. I did it for a few years and then my mother for some reason had my sister and I stop. Then I wanted to return in high school and I did but again my mother stopped me after some months. I wasn't heartbroken about it. I never got past single jumps and one of them (I think salchow) I never could do. It scared me having to start on 2 feet rather than 1. My cousin was hard-core into it and used to compete with Michelle Kwan. Eventually she got burned out (much like @DianneN 's Ice Princess) and gave it up.

I've watched bits and pieces of it. I like watching the Australians obviously and the antics they get up to way up in the air are a bit mind-blowing.

I basically lost interest when my granddaughter decided she didn’t want to ruin her life and try to make the Olympics. However, I do like figure skating and some of the skiing events. Only watch the highlights and see some of the scores when checking the news. My granddaughter still loves figure skating and gets ice time, and also is certified to teach it. She’s very into sports and plays tennis and is on her high school crew team. I have no interest in either, although I play tennis. Lol.

The Winter Olympics games do not get my attention since I did not play winter sports in my lifetime.

No, but then I never watch TV. I haven't specifically watched any Olympics since Jane Torvill and Christopher Dean won gold with their ground-breaking performance in 1984! I would watch it if I was in the room when someone else put it on, but unless I visit someone else that is not going to happen.

I've seen some of the amazing American skaters. I'm in a bit of a funk and have lost interest in it for now. I'm too busy sitting in my recliner, under my blanket and moping. Sigh.
