The world has gone mad
It really has
My friend has been going swimming every week for a couple of years since he had a heart attack, with a group of men who had all had heart attacks
Swimming has really helped him a lot.
So he phoned me earlier
Clearly upset and angry
Whilst he was swimming today a woman reported him to the lifeguard because he was wearing Speedos and she thought he looked "offensive"
And worse, the lifeguard told him to go and put shorts on over them.
He refused, pointing out that some of the other men were wearing Speedos too and that he was adequately covered.
The lifeguard explained that the woman's daughter, about 7 years old , had asked her mum why my friend had a lump at the front!!
But he did agree that my friend was properly attired and nothing was offensive at all.
Why is it we have to appease these people who complain where there is nothing to complain about
Would you complain about a guy wearing Speedos in the swimming pool

Some people can be very stupid. That woman should have told her child about lumps in women and men´s bodies instead of doing what she dis. And the lifeguard was worse.

@Ineeddentures That only means that the lifeguard should be fired for stupid.

According to Paul the lifeguard said he had to make the woman's complaint known to Paul and he thought the best way to resolve it was for Paul to put shorts over his Speedos which Paul rightly refused to do

@Ineeddentures Exactly. Now if they were budgie-smugglers she might have something to complain about. Or are they the same thing maybe?

A swimming pool is the place to wear Speedos
If not there, where?

@JudyEv i thought they were essentially the same thing - the same style at least.
This is from WordHistories.net:
This noun refers to the appearance of the male genitals in figure-hugging trunks. This was explained by Reg Henry in One vote for Olympian modesty, published in the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette (Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania) of Wednesday 13th August 2008—Reg Henry recalls “the Speedos of [his] youth”:
The Speedo company was founded in Australia and many is the summer I put on one of their suits—you didn’t get much material for your money—in order to impress the girls.
[…]
Back then […], a Speedo suit was shockingly revealing considering the strait-laced times. While it was thought (by men) to turn every fellow into Greek statuary with a fig leaf of nylon covering, it mostly revealed male vanity and absurdness.
Indeed, so vulgar and gross were these male mating displays on public beaches that the Aussies came up with an expression for the abbreviated Speedo—the budgie smuggler. Budgie is short for budgerigar, the native Australian parakeet, and the idea was that a fine figure of a man would wow the crowd if he looked like he had a parrot up his pants.

No, I would not report it. I would think it was weird, but not report it.

@Ineeddentures Shorts in the swimming pool are worse than Speedos, when they are wet they get almost transparents.

No I wouldn’t.
That woman should have explained things to her daughter…..

Well you wouldn't because you appreciate there is no logical reason to complain
And yes, the woman should have explained to the wee girl.

@Ineeddentures presumably the woman hadn't complained about female swimmers wearing bikini-style swimwear - but why not?

Who knows
But this is hot on the heels of a guy being asked by police to put his shirt back on when walking in the city centre last summer after a lady complained

I would not report the guy or complain as long as nothing was sticking out

He hasn't been himself since his heart attack and he was really upset.
He felt he had been made out to be a pervert

Aye well I was a lifeguard when I left the Army and I saw costumes which did not cover a women parts but were actually worn inside her, if you get my drift. Front and back, like a thong, but men didn't complain lol

I would not find anyone wearing a Speedo swimsuit at all, The advice from persons in the entertainment industry is if a show they produce offends, then change the channel or turn off the television set. Case closed.

As long as he was adequately covered, I don't have a problem with it.
