I just watched a guy win Brazil’s first ever gold medal in the Winter Olympics (and South America’s first medal in ANY Winter Olympic sport ever), competing for his mother’s country (he had previously competed for his father’s country of Norway). It was just so cool.
This is the first time I’ve bothered to watch the Olympics. I’m starting to remember why I enjoyed it so much.
*He won for Giant Slalom (skiing)

I saw that guy interviewed earlier. He sounded like he had virtually no accent. I will have to ask my son how many Brazilians don't have much of an accent.

I watched him win too. It was a very special moment, wasn't it? I think Kazakhstan's gold medal in figure skating might have been their first in any Winter Olympics too. And the winner had braces on his teeth! Which I thought was funny for some reason.
I guess some of these competitors are really quite young.

I watched some of the ice skating. I am in a bit of a funk and lost interest quickly. Maybe I will try to watch some more skating. I also like speed skating in addition to figure skating.

I've tried to watch the Olympics a bit here and there this past week but something always ''takes me away'' and well, you know. I did watch a bit of skiing one day.

There are some nice stories coming out. Did you see the Norwegian women's cross-country ski relay? One skier took a spectacular fall (a somersault in fact) and lost a ski, but she managed to catch it up and run with it and her other team-mates pulled out all the stops and they won silver!
