Our local pub collects things for the food bank. Sometimes when I can get freebies that I won’t use I add them to the collection .
A couple of weeks ago my Mom had a voucher for free …..let’s just say, ladies unmentionables !
She didn’t need them and neither did I do I said I will get them anyway and add them to the food bank. Her next door neighbour let me have her voucher too.
This morning the postman came around and although we didn’t have any actual mail he did push leaflets through the letterbox.
One leaflet was the free item voucher….i went out and asked him if he had any spares and he gave me a handful of them.
So kind.
I went into town and managed to get 4 packs. I will use the rest of the vouchers this week.
It’s not only food that the food bank need …..they need toiletries too.
I’m sure my unmentionable freebies will be useful.
Do you have a food bank near you ?

Until I was needed to care for my son, I volunteered at one of our local food pantries. I enjoyed being there, and made some friends with the other volunteers. If more people did what you were doing, it would help so much. That's very kind of you.

I think just because I can’t use the item myself why should I miss the opportunity to get it if I have a voucher and it’s free. There is always someone who can make use, of whatever it’s. It’s no hardship to get items from the shops as I go often anyway. I’m pleased to help.

The closest food bank to us is in Springfield, 70 miles away. There IS a metal box at the local park that you can leave canned or boxed items that you aren't interested in for anybody who wants/needs it.
When we get something we don't like and it's a multi-pack, we drop the unopened packs into that metal box.
When the government shut down last year and SNAP benefits weren't being paid out for several weeks, we took some of the extra food supplies we had to the food bank in Springfield and donated it.

Our church has a clothes closet and a food pantry where we donate. They have personal needs/hygiene toiletry items drives, school supply drives, clothing drives, blanket drives, etc.

There is a link to our council.
