Can You Prove You Are An American?

Trump is trying to make changes for the next election. He is trying to make it so people really have to work hard to even be able to vote. An ID or even the Real IDs could no longer be sufficient. He has even threatened to have ICE come to voting places to intimidate people and make it hard for people who are Democratic to be able to vote. The mapping didn't work as well as he thought it would, so he has to resort to other means. People are so afraid of ICE so he used them. Other countries have a list of their true residents. We didn't want our privacy violated so we didn't do that. So now how do we prove our citizenship? The election is several months away. I wonder how it will go. Everyone needs to vote. Gone is the day of not voting. I used to be one of them until Trump came on the scene. I knew very little about politics and my world was chaotic enough back then. Now I am on it. I still don't know all there is but I try to know the basics, and I listen to those I think have a clue at least. We all need to be sure to vote and be aware. Is there an ICE office in your town? Do you live in a Republican or Democratic state? I am trying to be aware and prepared.

It is insane. Married women who have changed their names and it doesn't match the name on their birth certificate would be unable to vote.

You need to show your marriage license and birth certificate to prove it. That will get you a passport. If divorced you might need those papers too

@wolfgirl569 Oh well I don't have the marriage license/certificate any longer and it would be in Spanish anyway since I got married in Mexico.

Fortunately, I’ve been investigated three times by the FBI as part of my security clearance in the Navy. I live in a Democratic city (Louisville), and our state governor is a Democrat; however, the state is mostly rural and therefore mostly Republican. Both senators and five of our six Congressmen are Republican. The only Democrat comes from the Louisville area.

Voting in compulsory here. After seeing what's happening in America, I'm glad it is. If more had voted in the US, perhaps Trump wouldn't have got in.

I think he got in because Putin helped him rig the votes. He will do anything.

There is an ICE office in Lake Charles. I do live in a Republican state even though the Mayor of Lake Charles is a Democrat.

It is sad but I feel rather safe because I live in a Republican state. Trump will do what he can to Democratic ones to help him get the votes he wants.

I don't know about an ICE office. It would most likely be in Cleveland.

Probably. Also the warehouses they are buying to make detainee encampments out of.

Won't it be just as difficult for Republican voters to have the correct documentation to be able to vote. Can't y,all just vote by post

I vote by mail. I don't know how long that is going to be viable. Trump doesn't like that people have that choice. All I can do is wait and see.

@celticeagle America is the so called biggest democracy in the world - everything has to be transparent. Don't let these right wing sound bites scare you Nothing very much will change with the right to vote and I can't see ICE agents around polling stations intimidating people in the full view of the worlds press It isn't Nazi Germany of the 1930,s

I can get everything I need to prove it but shouldn't have to

Unless Trump changs the rules. You would think a birth certificate, and such would be enough. I have one saying I was born on a Naval base.

Trump would not like me, I consider myself a Latvian-American and I have a Latvian citizenship also and I am proud my parents were immigrants,

As you should. I hope that doesn't cause you any problems. I think he will try to mess with Democrats as much as he can.
