So, you all know that I love eating and cooking ….it got me thinking about foods from around the world and I was wondering…..
What food is your country famous for ?
Here in the UK we are famous for …..
Fish and chips
Cheddar cheese ….made in Cheddar in Somerset
Pork pie ….made in Melton Mowbray…..Leicester
Locally to the Midlands we are known for
Orange battered chips
F*ggots.
Curry is hugely popular too.
What food or meal is your country famous for ?

Adobo. There's even a film made entitled American Adobo. It was about Filipinos living in America and of course preparing adobo.

I don't think the US is famous for any foods. We've borrowed all of our cuisine from other countries and then modified it to fit our own tastes.
Unless, of course, you consider "fat back", "sow belly" or "squirrel and dumplings" American "foods"?

@DaddyEvil not meat loaf …..im guessing pot roast is just meat roasted in a pot.
Although they may be in other countries we associate them with America

I guess we made American cheese, which technically is only a cheese product, and not real cheese. Most people from other countries ask if I eat a lot of fried chicken. Apparently, our fried chicken in the United States is famous? Maybe deep dish Chicago style pizza…
I’d really like to think someone invented American cheese and just called it American to be spiteful. I don’t want to think we came up with it.

@Traceyjayne There is nothing like homemade fried chicken. That’s something every American household knows how to make young. It with fried potatoes is my favorite.
By chance, do you have Church’s Chicken over there?

@Traceyjayne - I know and we in the north of Italy do not appreciate pizza so much and we like more ravioli and fettuccine than spaghetti.

I would say barbecue, as far as I know it originated in the US. It is mostly famous in the South and the Midwest, but different areas have different sauces. Also, chicken wings originated in the US in Buffalo New YorK. There are different states who have their own regional specialities.

Yes, while states, areas etc have popular goods that are well known…….im thinking more of the country as a whole. So something that ‘ belongs ‘ to America …..but which is well known for such in other countries ….more of which foods are so well known the rest of the world associate them with your country.
