This continues from the post :
So after nearly 9 hours of flight time from New Delhi, we were approaching Helsinki (Helsinki-Vantaa) airport in Finland.
It gets tiresome sitting so long.
I stretched a bit in between.
I am not able to fall fully asleep on trips but it was not fully asleep and not fully awake condition!
So we were eager for a break at Helsinki Airport.
The travel and food in Finnair is decent.
Approaching Helsinki, we saw almost everything covered in snow, possibly lakes & rivers.
Absolutely marvelous view in the image at the top.
We came to know that temperature was -15 C.
You can see snow at the Airport also in the picture.
More to come...

The good part was that we did not had to venture out but just be inside the airport.

Finland is beautiful place to visit. But staying longer there in such temperature can be depressing. My brother wanted to cut short his stay and return. It was getting annoying for him. I remember my first year in Colorado, US. When winter came, I was super excited to see the snow and frozen lakes. But then I kept waiting for sunny day without snow. And the wait was really too long
. I stayed in Chicago too and it was the same.

Snow and the landscape can be fascinating to see.
Yet actually living within that can be a challenge.
I would share my first hand experience in the coming posts.
One needs to be mentally ready to stay in such places with freezing temperatures for a longer time.
And for us from Plains, it can be even tougher.
May be someone from the higher reaches of Himalayas like from Ladakh etc. can live better in those places.

Tough even when one knows.
Even shoveling snow is a big task by itself!

In regions of heavy snow like Canada. Many parts of Europe and US, shoveling is almost an everyday ritual and quite time and energy consuming!

Thanks and it was a delight to see such a clear sky and the sunlight and it was like a Fairy Landscape to use with so much snow.
Good part- we did not had to venture outside!!
I personally feel that a break in between is better than a continuous long flight.
On the flip side, one has to get all hand baggage checked one extra time.

In some coming posts, I would share some of my below freezing weather experiences!
A big learning but such cold is really testing!!
And for -15 C, I would definitely need North Pole kind of dressing!!
