Record Highs to Record Lows

I don't know if global warming or climate change is to blame, or if it's just by virtue of where I live geographically, but our weather right now is all over the place, as far as temperatures are concerned. Today and tomorrow, we will be experiencing record high temperatures, ones that rival even our hottest summer days. We're in the middle of winter, and should not be this hot. Then, on Saturday night, another polar blast will come through the area and on Sunday and Monday we will be experiencing possible record low temperatures. From record heat to record lows, all in a period of 3-4 days. I just wish our weather would stay consistent for longer than 2-3 days at a time. Anybody else out there in the world having this issue? And, just to make some of you jealous, I am laying out by the pool today working on my suntan. Might as well take advantage of this heat to get an early jumpstart on my summer tan!

We had several days of 40s and 50s which was a nice break from single digits and below zero weather...BUT it's going to get cold again with s**w for this weekend. I say it's climate change/global warming that's to blame.

I could handle 40s and 50s, it’s those 20s and 30s that kill me, and we’ve had a lot of those days this winter.

@LindaOHio They say it hurt tourism big time down here. Not to mention the losses our agricultural industries sustained from the record cold. But I think the tourists will come back in droves. I read a report yesterday that said Disney was experiencing record breaking crowds this week, which is usually a very slow time of year for them. I think people are making up for lost time for back when we had that bad cold spell.

@moffittjc That puts a wrinkle in the plans of those who went to FL to escape the cold.

We had three days at 72F and are back down to freezing today with possible icy rain/snow later this afternoon/overnight. I'm not jealous. I'd sunburn in about 15 minutes if I tried laying out and getting a tan.

@moffittjc That redness would be peeling on me in a few days.

@DaddyEvil As long as I don't overdo it, most of the time my redness will turn into a nice tan. Still a little red today, but no peeling is evident. I think it will just turn into the start of a base tan.

I was much whiter than I thought, and I overdid it out in the sun today. I wore sunscreen, so I’m not sunburned, but I’m much redder than I wanted to be. Fortunately, I tan rather well, so the redness will give way to a golden brown in a few days.

@moffittjc I can totally understand and relate. It’s really not easy to deal with it.

@dodo19 Is your winter weather a little more stable than the fluctuations we get down here in Florida?

I just don’t like the fluctuations of the extremes. Hard to plan for, and the body has a hard time keeping up. No wonder so many people are sick.

We had a very nice couple of days for this area. We are now going back to thirties for highs but that is normal this time of year

@moffittjc We just had a longer than normal stretch of very cold weather. Then highs that were close to records. Now dropping back down to fairly normal. But who knows how long that will last.

@wolfgirl569 Our cold snap that started today will only last 2 days, and then we'll be back to hot temperatures again. So, basically, over a period of about 5-6 days, we'll go from summer heat to below freezing conditions back to summer heat again. Not how I envisioned spending February. For now, I'm going to enjoy this cold weather, since it will only last 2 days. I think I can handle that. lol

Has your weather been mostly consistent to what you usually get this time of year? Ours has been drastically crazy and all over the place. And on top of all of that, we are now in an extreme drought and wildfires are popping up all over the place.

Thankfully we're not having these extremes. No good putting away summer/winter clothes - just leave them all out.

@moffittjc It has been very, very hot. Quite regularly around 100F. I'm glad I don't have to go to work. lol

@JudyEv Oh wow, that’s higher than what we suffer from during our summers. Has the humidity been bad at all? Here, the humidity is what kills us during the summers.

@Deepizzaguy When I went to bed last night, it was hot and the A/C was running in the house. When I woke up this morning, it was cold and I was freezing! lol

We have had a week of 70 plus temperatures, and this morning it was 28 degrees. This weekend the cold comes back, and then the 70s are back near the end of the week.

Has your weather been abnormal this winter? I have never seen our temps fluctuate so badly this season. They are literally all over the place.

@moffittjc Oh yes, definitely. 86 F on Christmas to 30 F back to 86 F down to to the thirties. It’s nuts.

No, we have been pretty consistently been below average for the month of Feb. At least the sun has finally peeked out now.

You’re lucky it’s been consistent. I don’t care if it’s burning hot or freezing cold, as long as it is consistent one way or the other (my preference would be cold, but I don’t get my hopes up too high since I live in Florida after all).

@LovingMyBabies When I went to bed late last night, the A/C was still running in the house. Now, this morning, it's cold out and will keep getting colder. Bad storms moved through the area last night, and it woke me up during the middle of the night. That was the cold front coming through. What's crazy is that this latest cold blast will only last 2 days, and then it will be baking hot out again.

That’s the worst part, not being able to figure out what to wear on any given day. And in some days we experience all four seasons in the same day.

Yes, we had an ice storm, then snow just weeks ago and today it was in the 70s. I had driving to do and was driving with the air conditioning on today. It is still officially Winter. The weather is crazy.

The same thing with me yesterday. I had to run some errands, and it was so hot outside I had to run the A/C in my truck. I can't remember the last time I did that in February.

Under normal circumstances, I am the opposite, in which I wish colder weather would hurry up and arrive (I live in a hot, humid climate). But this year, our winter weather has been brutal and I can honestly say I am with you on this one, in that I want warmer weather to arrive and stick around.
